is Proud to Feature the Art of Joannie Fusella
Joannie’s love of art became apparent when, at age five, she drew her first “masterpiece” with crayons under a window on the outside of her parents’ house. After attending Daemen College in Amherst, NY for Painting and Sculpture, she pursued graduate studies in painting at The State University of New York at Albany and then, years later, Interior Design at The Art Institute of Las Vegas. She has worked at art galleries, at a private primary school teaching art classes to K-5 students, and she also had the opportunity to work as an Interior Designer on Steve Wynn’s design team, opening up the hotel Wynn Las Vegas. She rounded out her career by becoming the National Hospitality Sales Manager for an established British luxury fabric company that sells fabric and wallpaper to Hotel Designers. Feeling her heart strings once again tugged by her love of making art, she finds herself drawn in to being true to her first passion. Her focus is now back on painting, sculpture and mixed media.
She says: “Creating art, really- honest, soul-searching art, to me is an extension of the inner sanctum. It’s being true to one’s self and thereby creating “self” in each and every piece. It also represents progression through time periods and change. This “truth” is what I strive for. For my viewer I seek to create a personal experience, an impact: emotional, spiritual or physical. Through color, chaos and luscious surfaces, I ask each person to probe beyond the realm of everyday existence into the world of shape, texture and movement and ask why my art may affect them so profoundly.”
